Two more weeks!
I've just realized that I haven't posted since before receiving the proofs. They came, it was quite simple to read them over and okay them and send them back. Not a big deal at all. What a relief!
I'm working on the promotion plan, creating mailing lists for book reviewers, distributors, etc. It's very happy work getting this close to having real books to send out.
One list is of reviewers for publications with circulations of more than about 80,000, who will receive a copy of the book. It will cost me about $4 for each review copy I send out, and I will probably send out around 200 of them. Another list is for reviewers for smaller publications, who will get an email from me asking if they'd like a review copy. No cost there except time. A third list is for other sorts of organizations like Jung societies -- I've got 51 of them on the list so far after doing a Google search -- who will also receive an email.
As the source of these mailing addresses, I'm using the Literary Market Place ("LMP 2006") -- a borrowed copy from the Longmont Public Library, which saved me the cost of buying one (the cheapest used copy I found in a nearby store was $50) -- and Ulrich's Periodicals Directory, which stays in the Library's reference section. Ulrich's is a difficult directory to use, really overwhelming, as it lists periodicals of all kinds, not just those who review books, and in all countries.
