Ad requests and rejection letters...
I'm beginning to get responses from the mailing to reviewers and distributors.
One distributor sent a very nice rejection notice, remarking that the book "looks interesting and well written" and doesn't meet their needs. At least they glanced at the writing!
A magazine acknowledged receipt of the review copy and suggested I purchase an ad in their publication to increase my chances of a review! Not sure what to think about that, the quid-pro-quo nature of the suggestion was a bit off-putting. Their ad prices are quite low, but I know I rarely look at book ads myself and I doubt other people pay much attention either.
