First stock order received from Amazon.com

This morning I received my first stock order from Amazon.com, for 18 copies of the paperback version of Practically Shameless.

It's been my understanding from other independent publishers that the initial order is usually for 3-5 books. So an order for 18 seems like an auspicious sign. With this order, 677 copies of the paperback version of Practically Shameless have been sold.

Some time soon Practically Shameless will be the featured book of the week at the Menstuff.org website, which showcases an astounding variety of books and other materials of interest to men.

Although Practically Shameless was written by a woman and focuses on my difficulty being in groups of women, it has no trouble qualifying as "men's stuff" for several reasons. For one, it's about Shadow Work, which was created by Cliff Barry, who was a leader in the ManKind Project for seven years. Cliff also wrote the Foreword. In addition, in Chapter 17, the story turns to my working with a man at one of my workshops, and his issue might be said to touch on men's issues.

I'm still awaiting press reviews . . . and it's hard to wait!  The official publication date is February 1, and I expect to start seeing reviews during January. I heard from the Small Press Review that they were considering a review; the SPR is a bimonthly magazine.
