There's so much richness and feeling there.

Comment on Moving to Illinois

Well, that's a huge shift! I'll miss having you around here. Having been born in Evanston, and raised there and nearby, at least I know the part of the world you'll be in.

Comment on Of blogging, publishing, reading and greed

Alyce,

I cannot imagine posting something really worthwhile on my blog every day, or even three times a week, as many recommend. I don't believe I could maintain the quality my readers expect from me with such frequent postings. Further, I could not post that often and stay on top of the editing, writing, speaking, and shamanic work that both pay the bills and feed my life in a thousand ways that end up in blog posts.

There are a great many books that are poorly done out there. As an editor, it pains me when I see a book that is clearly in need of editing--and those sometimes come out of big publishing houses.

Thanks for the truth telling.

Melanie

Comment on Of blogging, publishing, reading and greed

I appreciate your candor about "junk" blogs and books. I typically update my blog once a week, with the purpose of adding a new post about the Saturday Morning Run/musings of the week. Any more than that and I feel that I'll be adding to the "junk" that's out there. My writing won't be as thoughtful, and honestly, if I have to force myself to do it, I'll lose interest. The most important aspects of the writing are thoughtfulness and honesty, not repackaging for the sake of sales. Good thoughts; thank you. You helped clarify some of my own!

Comment on Second printing arrives next week

That's wonderful, Alyce! What a wonderful accomplishment. You've worked very hard and deserve all the success you achieve.
Hugs, Lynda

Comment on Second printing arrives next week

Congratulations. The used copies shipped out by amazon.com are fine for getting your message out, but they do nothing to compensate your years of work and commitment, to say nothing the cost of self-publishing and inventorying. Only new book sales help authors -- and in the US, library loans don't remit anything to authors (they do in the UK). It's a shame, but that's the way it is.

Comment on Second printing arrives next week

Congratulations on the 2nd edition! It's very satisfying to find typos in the print edition, and even better to get another chance to correct the mistakes. :-) Thank you for sharing your good fortunes, it's so nice to be able to be happy for people!

Comment on The New York Times in financial trouble

Well many industries are being affected of the financial crisis that we are experiencing right now. and It will be getting worst in the year to come. There must be an immediate solution or remedy, one of which i think is proper financial management.

Comment on The New York Times in financial trouble

Claire,
Yes, and I find myself thinking that perhaps, if the newspaper industry survives this massive change and morphs into something better, it will turn out to be better for the planet in the long run anyway when we're absorbing news without having to kill trees to do it.
